Obituary

Eugene S. Bernocco passed away on February 20, 2023 at the age of 90. Beloved husband of Dorothy Flowers-Stagg-Bernocco for 41 wonderful years. Dearest father of Bart (Lillian), Theresa (David) Blazo, and the late Steven (Cheryl). Proud grandfather of Emily, Natalie, Dominic, Amanda, Adam, and Kara. Dear brother of William (the late Sonia) Bernocco and the late Madelene (Frank) Audia.. Loving son of the late William and Mary Bernocco. Dear Stepfather of Bill (Michelle) Stagg, Patrick Stagg, Theresa (Andy) Mayros, Joanne (Mark) Clark, Kathleen (the late Frank) Compton, and the late Michael Stagg. Step grandfather to Ashley, Michael, Rachelle, Brian, Brandon, Brianna, Courtney, Devon, Lindsay, Joseph, Sarah, Cody, Andrew, Tony, Jacob, and Charles. Gene is also survived by several great-grandchildren, brother-in-law, Donald (Dianne) Flowers, and sisters-in-law, Sandra (the late Timothy) Clement and Betty Lou (the late Peter) Arthmire. Gene was predeceased by Joanne Bernocco and Monsignor Donald Mondello.

Gene proudly served his country in the Navy during the Korean War. Following his service, he began his 40-year career at Ford Motor Company from which he retired. He attended the Ford Trade School where he earned his Associate's degree. During his career he was honored with awards for 2 inventions. He was a proud member of Divine Child Parish, serving as an usher and in the Men's Club. He was also in the St. Linus Men's Club. He served as president and recording secretary of the Divine Child Men's Club. Gene was also a dedicated 4 th degree Knight in the O'Kelly council of the Knights of Columbus. He participated in the Polka Boosters of America, coached CYO baseball for 20 years, practiced in the Organic University of Michigan Garden Club, and a was a member of the American Legion Fort Dearborn Post.

Visitation at the TAYLOR CHAPEL of Howe-Peterson Funeral Home (9800 Telegraph Rd) on Thursday, Feb. 23, 3-8pm. A Rosary will take place at 7pm. Instate at Divine Child Catholic Church on Friday Feb. 24 at 12pm until time of Mass at 12:30pm. Interment at St. Hedwig Cemetery with Navy Honors to follow the Mass.

Mass is still scheduled for today at Divine Child Catholic Church even though there is a power outage. Please dress warm
