Eugene W. Plaza passed away on March 1, 2020, at the age of 89.  Eugene was born on December 30, 1930 in Detroit to Joseph and Frances (Fitz) Plaza.  In 1950, he moved with his parents to a house in Dearborn that his father had built, where Eugene lived until shortly before his death.  He served in the Army in Germany during the 1950s, achieving the rank of Corporal.  His Army duties prepared him for a long and successful career in an administrative position with the Wayne County Road Commission.  He was also an active member of the St. Alphonsus Parish in Dearborn.  After retirement, Eugene enjoyed trips to soak up the Florida sun, fine cigars, frequent family get-togethers, listening to Detroit Tiger ballgames, and spending time with his beloved dog and companion, Snuggles.  He was preceded in death by his sister Clothilda Poniers (husband Theodore), sister Virginia Kocaj (husband Alphonse), and brother Leonard Plaza.  He is mourned by sister-in-law Danuta (Sudul) Plaza and her family, and was loved during his lifetime by six nieces and nephews and their spouses.

Instate at St. Alphonsus Church (13540 Gould St, Dearborn, MI 48126) on Friday, March 6 at 10:00am until time of Mass at 11:00am. Interment at St. Hedwig Cemetery with Army honors.
