Obituary

Floyd William Reuter 87 of Dearborn Heights, died July 29, 2010. Beloved husband of 57 years of the Late Dorothy Harriet Smith Reuter. Loving father of Linda John Davis, Of Winnetka, IL, Cheryl Ronald Ashcroft of Romulus, MI, and Barbara Brian Greenwood of Houston, TX. Devoted grandfather of Katherine of Chicago, IL, Maureen and Alexander Davis, Lauren and Nicholas Ashcroft, Daniel of Dallas, TX, John, Heather and Andrew Greenwood. Dear brother of Wilma William Ray Price of Cincinnati, OH, the Late Glenn Blanche of West Chester, OH, Jeanette The Late Wilgus Edmond Coyle of Florence, KY and Marian Robert Gleason of Cincinnati, OH. Mr. Reuter, son of William and Luva Bohlke Reuter, was raised on the family farm north of Milan, Indiana. He attended Wittenberg College in Springfield, Ohio, joining Lamda Chi Alpha fraternity and later transferring to Purdue University to study agricultural enginerring. During World War II, he served in Italy in the U.S. Army's 196th Photographic Company. Returning to Purdue, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree. He was hired in 1948 by Harry Ferguson Inc. in Detroit which became Massey Ferguson and worked there until 1982. Starting as a field test engineer, he traveled extensively in the southwestern U.S. Floyd earned three U.S. patents for farm machinery design, later positions included senior design engineer. He worked an additional four years for Davis Associates on Ford light truck design. Mr. Reuter was confirmed at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church at Stumke's Corner near Milan, Indiana. In recent years, he was a member of Warren Valley United methodist Church in Dearborn Heights. He also was a longtime member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church in Dearborn holding many leadership positions. His calm, optimistic outlook will be missed by many. Visitation 10 am, service 11am on Sat. Aug. 14th at Warren Valley United methodist Church, 6455 Kinloch, Dearborn Heights.
