Frederick
Marx
February 6, 1931 – August 30, 2016
Frederick Marx passed away peacefully on the evening of August 30, 2016 surrounded by his loved ones. He was survived by his daughter Amy Latoski, her husband George, grandsons Dillon and Aaron, and brother Michael. He was preceded in death by his wife Isobel, mother Josephine, father August and brother Arnold.
Fred was in the area, and he and Isobel settled in Dearborn Michigan where they raised their daughter, worked in the community and spent their entire lives.
Fred was a devout Catholic who willfully served our country in the Korean War and remained an active reservist for many years afterward. His desire to help others led him to pursue a profession as a teacher teaching shop classes at O.L. Smith Middle School for over 30 years. Fred made learning fun for kids by making up songs; generations still sing his soldier song today.
When Fred was not teaching he spent his time exploring and learning. Fred would travel during the summers with his family in search of the most beautiful golf courses, oceans, mountains, and his personal favorite – waterfalls. While traveling he would always get up very early in the morning to explore the land, talking to every stranger that he met, often with his notorious "question-of-the-day". He always did this because he had an inquisitive mind and a genuine care for others.
The family will be hosting a viewing in honor of Fred's life at Dearborn Chapel of Howe-Peterson Funeral Home located at 22546 Michigan Avenue on Friday, September 2, 2016 from 3:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. Funeral mass will be St. Kateri Catholic Church located at 16101 Rotunda Drive, Dearborn at 1:00p.m., Instate at 12:30p.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2016.
