Obituary

SELL, Gertrude R, age 94 of Dearborn. Passed away peacefully Saturday, November 8, 2008. She was born September 12, 1914 in Brooklyn, NY to Harry and Gertrude Roesel. On July 28, 1940 she married Floyd W. Sell who preceded her in death on June 5, 1987. Gertrude and Floyd traveled the world but their favorite places were wherever their families gathered; including Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Buffalo, NY. Christ Episcopal Church in Dearborn was her community. Gertrude was active in St. Martha's Guild, Alter Guild and Stewardship Commission. Gertrude was a Campfire Girl Leader for years inspiring young women and enjoying nature. She volunteered after retirement from Nursing at Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn and various committees at Oakwood Common. Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister Janet Kiley. Dear mother of William of Denver, CO, Susan Frank Soloc of Lakeland, MI, Elizabeth Berry of Chicago, IL and Heather Sell David Pardy of Royal Oak, MI. Also survived by 3 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Funeral Services Thursday 11:00 am from Christ Episcopal Church, 120 N. Military, Dearborn. Instate from 10:00 am. Visitation Wednesday 2-9 pm from the Dearborn Chapel of the Howe-Peterson Funeral Home, 22546 Michigan Ave. Memorials to Hospice of Michigan, 400 Mack Ave., Detroit, MI 48201 and Christ Episcopal Church, 120 N. Military, Dearborn. Gertrude's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Oakwood Commons, Oakwood Hospital, her personal aides Amber, Sandy and Kim and Hospice of Michigan for the wonderful care that she received.
