Gladys Sweeney of Taylor, passed away on December 6, 2019 at the age of 87.

Gladys was born on January 4, 1932 in Manco, Kentucky. She married James Sweeney on November 30, 1950 and moved to Michigan in December of that year.

Gladys was often described as a virtuous woman, who enjoyed cooking, cleaning and taking care of grandchildren, who mean the world to her.  Her children called her The Homemaker Extraordinaire!

Her faith in God guided her through her life and she considered those at church her second family.

Gladys leaves behind her beloved husband of 69 years, James.

Loving mother of the late Douglas Sweeney, Ronald (Kathy) Sweeney, and Brenda Sweeney.

Devoted grandmother of Marsha West, James (Syndy) Sweeney, Kelly (Scott) Mouseau, Paul (Rae) Sweeney, and Johnathan (Lexie) Sweeney.

Cherished great grandmother of Cody West, Rebecca West, Brandon West, Bruce Mousseau, Alexis Mousseau, Wyatt Sweeney, and Bailey Rae Sweeney.

Gladys, who was affectionately called Memaw by her family, will be dearly missed.

The family of Gladys would like thank Season's Hospice for the exceptional care they provided to Gladys as well as the care and concern they showed for the entire family.

Visitation will be on Monday, December 9, 2019, from 2:00PM until 8:00PM at the Taylor Chapel of Howe-Peterson Funeral Home, 9800 Telegraph Rd. Funeral service on Tuesday at 10:00AM (gathering at 9:00AM) at the Taylor Chapel. Burial at Cadillac Memorial Gardens West in Westland, Michigan.
