ROLLET, Grant Mitchell July 1, 2011, age 22 of Dearborn, formerly of South Rockwood, was gathered in the Lord's arms unexpectedly while serving his country in the United States Navy. He grew up in South Rockwood and graduated from Airport High School, class of 2007. Prior to his enlistment, Grant attended Ferris State University, was an avid runner and had a strong love of music. Grant volunteered for duty in the United States Navy in the summer of 2009, Recruit Training Command. He followed that by his selection to attend the Naval Aviation School at Naval Aviation Technical Training Center, Pensacola, Florida. Upon graduation he entered the F/A-18 pipeline of instruction. Grant was then assigned to the VFA-137 located at Naval Air Station Lemoore, CA that had just recently received the newest fighter attack aircraft in the United States Navy inventory. Grant deployed with VFA-137 on the USS Abraham Lincoln in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. While assigned at VFA-137 he served in numerous positions achieving multiple maintenance and professional qualifications to support the mission of the squadron and the United States Navy. His earned and awarded decorations include: the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, the Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist device and the United States Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal. Grant is survived by his loving parents, Raymond and Cheryl Rollet of Dearborn, formerly of South Rockwood, brother Raymond Marianne and sister Emily.
