Gretchen Kienman

Loving wife of the late Richard "Dick" for 60 years.
Loving mother of Pat (Joanie) and Rick (Cindy).
Proud grandmother of Sara, Lethe, Brittany, Balin and great grandmother of Persephone and Hyperion.

Gretchen graduated Detroit Institute of Technology in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy, an unusual accomplishment for women of the era. She worked for Mount Carmel Hospital in Detroit for over 9 years.  After several years of raising a family Gretchen returned to work as a pharmacist at St. Mary Hospital, Livonia, MI.  When Dick's career took the family out of state to New Jersey she was determined to continue to work in her chosen field.  At the age of 55, Gretchen took the New Jersey state board (testing in pharmacy and state laws). She passed the state board of pharmacy then worked for another 10 years (5 years at Dover General Hospital then 5 years at HomeMed) until retirement in 1990.
No memorial service will be held.
In lieu of flowers or gifts to the family, memorial contributions may be made to American Stroke Association, American Heart Association or a charity of your choice.
