Guy Lindbergh Sykes, 97, of Taylor, passed away on February 28th, 2026. Guy was born February 6, 1929, the son of Ireland and Nancy (Mullins) Sykes. Guy leaves behind two loving daughters, Regina LaForest and Katrina (Rick) Woodward, five grandchildren, Johnathon (Kaitlyn), Andy, Lindsey, Karla, and Kristopher (Jamie), and 18 great grandchildren, Brayden, Piper, Jackson, Olivia, Levi, Athene, Annalie, Aidan, Gabe, Isabelle, Declan, Everett, Devereaux, Emily, Katie, Kayla, Elaina, and Gracie.

Guy was preceded in death by his wife, Annie M. Sykes in 1995 and his lifelong companion, Diane Phillips who was by his side for many years.

Guy served his country honorably in the United States Army. He enjoyed fishing, playing checkers, playing his guitars which included a banjo, acoustic, and a ukelele. He also loves whistling and harmonica. He loved his country music. He loved to dance as well. He was always the first one on the dance floor at family weddings. He loved doing his yard work and strived to have the best yard on the block.

A visitation will be held at Howe-Peterson Funeral Home in Taylor on Wednesday from 1:00-8:00pm with services beginning at 7:00pm.

Memorial contributions in Guy's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
