Obituary

Harold Waechter passed away surrounded by his family on April 1, 2022 at the age of 87.

For 87 years Harold Waechter, lived most of his life in Taylor, MI. He took care of each person that he came across. From his younger years helping friends out, to his later years making sure his family was never in need. He was also in the small elite group of people, who kept a promise. On

May 19 th , 1957 "that would be 64 years, 11 months and 318 days ago" he made a promise to God and Janet, he would love and cherish her till death do them part" and he did! Over the years, they welcomed kids, grand-children, and even great-grandchildren. He allowed their home for 64 years to be an open door, never turning anyone away. He never locked the back door incase someone needed to come home in the middle of the night, he wanted you to know that you were welcome.

He was so dedicated to providing for his family, he rarely took a vacation, the last year of his retirement was paid in full and not worked one day, he had accumulated that much time and retired at 59. He went on to spend most of his retirement years, taking his wife to their up north cabin, attending the grandkids extracurricular activities, watching tigers' baseball and aided in raising a grandchild.

He did not have an education but made sure each one of his family members were able to obtain one of if they so choose. And this man, held is tongue like no other, In the world of tell everyone off when you feel offended, he still maintained the standard of "If you have nothing nice to say then don't say it at all". He also never spoke of the things he did for people; discretion was his character. Most days he carried the weight of the world on his shoulders, by looking at him you would never have known. He genuinely gave everything, he had, with no questions or judgement. Never once making you feel bad, about dumb decisions or guilt tripping you about something he done for you, this gave way to his unwavering stability for us.

He lived a very simple life, one of love, support and understanding. Nothing fancy for him, because then he would not have enough to help anyone else if needed. By Allowing himself a simple life, he also became our rock, never leaving, never judging just being there; solid and secure. Anytime you were in his presence you just slowed down and engaged in the moment.

He also had some of the most random quirks about him, that only our family could laugh at, and say "that's grandpa", those funny things we will hold close to our hearts as we remember this stubborn, giving, loving, caring man close to our hearts until we meet again.
