Helen Genevieve
Daly
November 29, 1921 – July 16, 2020
Helen Daly passed away on July 16, 2020 at the age of 98.
Beloved wife of the late Robert T.
Loving mom of Sally (Bruce) Post, Chuck Daly, Luanne Daly (Chris Schultz) and Pat Daly.
Dear grandma of Lindsay, Andrew (Linda), Laura, CJ (Lauren), and Collin.
Proud Gigi of Maeve, Genevieve and Evangelina.
She is survived by her sister Rege Bednar as well as many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents Bernard and Frances Krake and her siblings, Pearl Ritnour, Joseph Krake and Ernie Manning.
Helen was a good mother to her four children. They can remember enjoying her home-made meals that were always followed by her delicious desserts. It just wasn't dinner if there wasn't dessert. And of course, each child had their favorites and would argue that those were the best. Sally favored her lava Bundt cakes, where Chuck favored the cream puffs. They all recall when Chuck ate 5 cream puffs and almost made himself sick! Luanne had to have her Hello Dolly cake every year for her birthday and Pat couldn't resist her banana cream pie.
When Helen wasn't cooking or caring for her family, she was busy crafting and helping the less fortunate. Helen created many beautiful quilts and countless rosaries that she made for her family and the missions.
Helen used her talents to make plarn. Plarn is made of plastic bags and used to weave matts for the homeless. She was part of a group called RSVP. This was a senior group that worked to help women and premie babies. They would knit clothing and what are called grip balls.
Whether she liked to admit it or not, Helen loved the newest gadgets! Her kids got her a microwave as a gift and she detested it saying that she would never use it and that they wasted their money. Well, it wasn't long before she didn't know how she lived without it! She wasn't always upfront about liking techy gadgets, but once she figured them out, she was golden!
Helen has seen a lot over her 98 years on this earth and she has touched so many lives. Her warm smile and generosity will be missed by her family and friends.
