Helen Elizabeth Hartline, 82, of Dearborn, Michigan, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2026, with her devoted husband of 60 years, Charlie, by her side. Helen was born on March 12, 1944, in Dearborn.
Helen and Charlie met in high school and were married at the First Baptist Church of Dearborn, where they remained faithful members for decades. She was the beloved mother of Jennifer Edwards (Dan) and Cheryl Fager (John), and a loving “Mimi” to Gabrielle, Amelia, Greysen, Zachary, and Jacob. Helen is also survived by her sister-in-law, her cherished nieces and nephews, and other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; two sisters-in-law; a niece; and other dear family members and friends.
Gentle and caring by nature, Helen never sought the spotlight, yet she had a quiet way of making everyone feel cared for and special. She lived with a generous heart, always ready to help others and offer loving support. Her time spent with family at holiday gatherings and birthday celebrations over the years created cherished memories. Helen also enjoyed bringing beauty into the world. A talented seamstress, she was frequently asked to make custom dresses, Halloween costumes, and skating outfits for her daughters and grandchildren, and her garden was filled with gorgeous blooms.
Helen served her church with devotion, including as moderator, and she treasured the friendships she made singing in the Chancel Choir. Her nurturing spirit also shone through during her many years at Dearborn Montessori, where she worked alongside colleagues who became dear friends and where she was dedicated to helping every child reach their potential.
Above all, Helen was devoted to her family, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be dearly missed, leaving a legacy of kindness, and she will be remembered with gratitude by all who knew her.
The family is eternally grateful to everyone at Angela Hospice for their care and compassion. In accordance with Helen’s wishes, there will be no public service at this time. Friends and family are invited to honor Helen’s life by sharing memories in the online guestbook linked below and/or making a donation to Angela Hospice in her memory.
