On Saturday, August 15, 2026, Henry “Jim” Rozwood completed his journey here on Earth. Surrounded by his loved ones, Jim passed peacefully and went home to be with the Lord.
Jim was a proud Detroit native—born, raised, and a lifelong resident of the city he deeply loved. As the son of Polish immigrants, he carried his heritage with great pride. He was a man of faith, devoted to his family, and committed to serving others.
Jim honorably served his country as a decorated veteran, completing two tours in Vietnam. Following his military service, he returned to Detroit and, like many men of his generation, went to work in the steel mills, continuing in the footsteps of his father.
During this time, Jim met a spirited young redhead named Dorothy. Together, they built a life and welcomed two sons: their eldest, Scott, and their youngest, Brian.
As the years went on, Jim began a new chapter in his professional life with the State of Michigan in the mental health field. He devoted many years to serving others through this work before eventually retiring.
Later in life, Jim was blessed to meet the love of his life, Debbie. Together, they embraced life fully—traveling, sharing their faith in the house of God, enjoying time together, and creating countless cherished memories.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Henry J. Rozwood Sr.; his mother, Bernice Pryzdzial; his beloved wife, Deborah Dixon Rozwood; and his son, Scott J. Rozwood, who passed earlier this year. The loss of Scott and Debbie was among the deepest sorrows Jim endured in his final months.
Jim is survived by his sister, Diane (Rick) Wojohovski; his son, Brian (Jennifer) Rozwood; his grandsons, Joshua Rozwood, Kristopher Stratton Jr., and Kaden Rozwood; and his granddaughters, Alexis (Aaron) Bryant and Kiera Rozwood.
Jim was a man of faith and love. He was proud of his family, his service to his country, and his roots, and he left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
While our hearts are heavy with his passing, we find comfort in knowing Jim is no longer suffering and is reunited with those he loved who went before him. Though his earthly journey has ended, his story continues through his children, grandchildren, family, friends, and the many memories he leaves behind. His legacy will live on forever.
Rest peacefully, Dad. Your tour is complete. Until we meet again.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, the American Cancer Society, or toward Jim’s final expenses. Any support is deeply appreciated and will help ease the financial burden on the family during this difficult time.
Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
