Hank was born in Toledo, Ohio on March 2, 1928 to Colombian immigrant parents, Josephina & Luis Navarro.

Always a natural athlete, Hank initially pursued a career in professional baseball.  During this time he played for the Durham Bulls and the Little Rock Travelers.  Eventually, with a growing young family, Hank unselfishly put aside his passion for baseball to secure a reliable future in teaching.  He earned a Master's Degree, which eventually led him to over 35 years in the role of Mathematics teacher at Henry Ford Community College.  Although he was teaching such subjects as Calculus and Differential Equation, Hank also held a lifelong passion for wanting to understand the psychology of human behavior and was a seeker of tranquility and beauty.  He pursued these ideals throughout his entire life.

Also, as a lifelong athlete, he terrorized the Pickleball courts until nearly 90 years old.  In his younger years he played a beautiful game of tennis, competing against, much younger players.  He also practiced the art of Judo and Tai Chi.  He was competitive in sports but always valued good sportsmanship and proper etiquette over winning.

Generous, considerate, curious and kind, Hank was also a thoughtful listener.  He will continue to be held close in the hearts and minds of his family and friends.  While our family grieves his death, there is comfort in knowing he passed peacefully in his home, surrounded by loved ones.

We share, not only tears, but many moments of hilarious laughter as we share memories of his quick and clever wit and deadpan delivery.  His "Hankisms" with undoubtedly live on through all of us.  His grandchildren have said "if there was a Hall of Fame for Dad jokes, he would be the first inducted."
