December 16, 1929 to November 18, 2021

Irene Rita Ibbetson, age 91 of Dearborn, passed away peacefully November 18, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.

Beloved Wife of the late Robert Alexander Ibbetson.  Had sixty-two wonderful years of marriage. Loving mother of Mary (Frank) Maslowski.  Proud grandmother of three fur babies.  Caring sister of the late Gennie, Helen, Lottie and Wanda.  Survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

In her younger years Irene worked for Ford Motor Company as a secretary before becoming a full time mother to her only child, Mary.

Irene enjoyed many things....  going on adventures, cooking, antique stores, gardening, reading, watching her favorite TV shows "Dancing With The Stars" and "Everybody Loves Raymond", long car rides, sitting any place overlooking the water, sending greeting cards for almost every holiday, collecting things (milk glass, Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls, gingerbread houses, children's Golden Books, to name a few), and in her younger years she enjoyed traveling ("galavanting" most Thursdays) with her husband.  They especially loved going up North or finding a Kmart store that was still open.  One of her favorite sayings was "Home Sweet Home" as she walked in her door upon returning from a day of adventures.  She also loved to decorate her house for all the holidays.  Desserts brought her great pleasure....especially when she could enjoy a Sanders Hot Fudge Cream Puff! She really looked forward to visits and phone calls from family and friends in her later years as she wasn't able to get out as much as she used to.

Her beautiful smile will be greatly missed.

A memorial gathering will take place December 1st, from 3 PM until 9 PM, with a 7:30 PM memorial service, at The Howe-Peterson Funeral Home, Dearborn Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, since it's the holiday season, the family wishes that you make a donation in her memory to the Goodfellows, Salvation Army or a charity of your choice.
