Irene passed away peacefully at home on January 6, 2021 surrounded by family after a short battle with lung cancer. She was born on October 25, 1926 in Hamilton, Ohio to parents, Herbert and Jenny Ponder. She was the beloved wife of the late Henry Siwik and the late Roy Reppenhagen. Irene raised her family in Dearborn and was a resident for over 70 years.
Irene was the beloved mother of Jim (Kris) Crispin, Henry John (Yvonne) Siwik, Daniel Joseph (Dawn) Siwik, Michael (Nancy) Siwik, Thomas (Michelle) Siwik, Patrick (Patty) Siwik, Roy (Sandy) Reppenhagen, and the late Eugene Siwik.
Loving grandmother of 15: Andrew Crispin, David (Sharon) Crispin, Jessica (Greg) Ulin, Dominic (Daun) Siwik, John (Lora) Siwik, Eugene Siwik Jr., Kelly (Chris) Zarndt, Bonnie (David) Wright, James (Kim) Siwik, Thomas Siwik Jr., Sarah (Carmine) Savastano, Michael Siwik, Jennifer Siwik, Christopher Reppenhagen, Erin (Gary) Bosman.
Adoring great grandmother of 22: Isabel, Alyssa, Riley, Chase, Kayla, Palynn, Courtney, Gisele, Owen, Vivien, Luke, Raquel, Dylan, Oceana, Serena, Iyan, Kai, Elim, Lydia, Gary Jr. (and the late Eugene III & Savannah)
Irene also leaves behind siblings Charles (Rita) Ponder, Russell (Jackie) Ponder, Wilma (Ron) Bowdle and the late Lester Ponder and the late Mary (Jay) Durham.
Irene was a kind, loving, gentle person with a great sense of humor. She loved to have noisy family gatherings and filled her home with pictures of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She told hilarious stories about being a mother to eight sons! She enjoyed reading, playing cards, rocking in her favorite chair with her cat, Duke, and watching her digital picture frame. She was a wonderful person and will be missed.
Visitation at the Dearborn Chapel of Howe-Peterson Funeral Home Monday, Jan. 11, 3-8pm. Instate at Divine Child Church on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 9:30am until time of service at 10am. Interment Cadillac Memorial Gardens West, Westland.
