J Richard Kain, 81, died Monday, May 15th at the Atria Park Assisted Living in Ann Arbor. Dick was a friend of Bill W since February, 1981.
Loving husband of 58 years to Judith (Lanquist); and adored by children Jan (David) McCormick, Michael (Melissa) Kain, Jeannie Kain, Phil (Robin) Kain, and cherished grandfather to Ryan McCormick, Stephan Kuipers, Michelle Kuipers, Leslie Kain, Avery Kain, Nathan Machczynski, Caroline Kain and Bennett Kain; Preceded in death by grandson Matt McCormick. Richard also leaves behind a brother Steven (Sharon) Kain of Logansport, Indiana and many nieces, nephews and loving friends.
Born on October 17th, 1935 and raised in Indiana, the eldest son of Maurice and Mildred (Bond) Kain, Richard graduated from Martinsville High School in 1953. He moved to Flint, Michigan to attend General Motors Institute where he met his wife, Judy, and they were married in January of 1959.
After moving from Flint to Pontiac and Dearborn, they raised four beautiful children and Richard worked for AAA—later retiring from Electronic Data Systems (EDS) in 1999.
An avid golfer, Richard will continue to touch those of us he left behind. Whether you were family, a friend, or stranger—his goal was to make everyone smile.
Visitation at Howe-Peterson Funeral Home in Dearborn, Michigan Wednesday 4-8pm, Thursday noon-7pm and funeral service will be held May 19th at 10am at Howe-Peterson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard's name could be made to the ALS Association at alsa.org or the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org
