Jack "Gator" Gates of Goshen, Indiana, and formerly of Taylor, Michigan, passed away on November 4, 2021. Born on September 20, 1942 to John Henry and Florence Payment Gates in DeTour, Michigan – Jack spent his childhood in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Jack was a proud veteran who was honorably discharged in 1967.  He retired from Detroit Diesel.  Jack spent many years taking of his dear wife, Joann, until she passed away in 2005.

He loved football and was a diehard Lions/Michigan fan.  One of his favorite things to do was to cook for everyone!!!

Beloved husband of the late Joann.

Loving father of Scott, Paula (Oscar), David, Gordon (Darlene), Deborah (Rich), Thomas (Colleen), Tammy (Greg), and Barbara (Lincoln).

Cherished grandfather of Ryan, Megan, Justin, Brian, Kevin, Eric, Brandon, Ciara, Tabatha, Nicholas, Gordon Jr., Melissa, Holly, Justin, Mike, Jeffrey, Jenn, Nicholas, Brande, Kristy, Michael, Andrea, Jessica, Jesse, Carissa, and Lincoln.

Great grandfather to 32.

Dear brother of Edward, James, Ronald, and the late Kenneth.

Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 from 2:00PM until 8:00PM at the Taylor Chapel of Howe-Peterson Funeral Home located at 9800 Telegraph Rd.

Funeral service at 11:00AM on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at the funeral home.  Entombment at Michigan Memorial Park immediately to follow.
