James Donald Miles

June 24, 1940 - March 6, 2020

James Donald Miles (Jim) passed away on March 6 ^th , 2020, after a short, but courageous battle with cancer.

Jim was born to Donald and Laura Miles on June 24, 1940 in Garden City, Michigan.  He grew up as one of three children (Gerald, James, Sandra) and attended Dearborn High School.  He later obtained a bachelor's degree from Wayne State University.  In 1962, Jim married his high school sweetheart Sharon Asmus, and was a loving and supportive husband for 58 years.  They became the proud parents of Paul and Mike.  After a dedicated employment with General Motors, Jim retired and fully enjoyed his life outside of work.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon Miles; proud father of Paul (Stacy) Miles and Michael (Patti) Miles; loving grandfather of Paul and Erin; treasured brother of Gerald (Pat) Miles; cherished cousin to Lucy and Elisabeth Benham; proud uncle of Robert (Wendy) Martz, Kim (Michael) Murdock and Dawn (Rodney) Geiger.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Laura Miles; his sister Sandra (Jim) Myers and niece Susan Myers.

Jim was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt, fish, golf and tinker around the yard.  Jim's favorite pastime was spending time with friends and family and took great joy in cheering and encouraging his grandchildren during gymnastics meets or hockey games. He was a beloved neighbor who always took the time to help a fellow neighbor, provide a friendly wave, or stop to have a quick chat during his daily walks.  Jim will be missed dearly by all who had the pleasure of having him in their lives.  Jim will be remembered for his easy smile, calm demeaner, admiration for nature, his kind spirit and his love for family and friends.

A celebration of life for Jim will take place at Dearborn Hills Golf Course on Sunday, May 31, 2020 beginning a 3:00 pm.  Food and drinks will be provided, casual dress.  Address: Dearborn Hills Golf Course, 1300 S. Telegraph Rd. Dearborn, MI 48124.
