It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of James (Jimmy) Mitchell, 54, of Canton, MI on February 17th, 2024, at Beaumont Hospital.
Jimmy was born in Detroit, MI to the late William J. Mitchell and the late Audrey L. Mitchell on January 19th, 1970.
He was a dual business owner for hardwood flooring and sprinkler systems for over 30 years.
Jimmy had a variety of interests that brought him joy and fulfillment. He was an avid fan of the Detroit Lions and Detroit Red Wings, cheering on his favorite teams with unwavering enthusiasm during each game. However, his greatest joy came from spending quality time with the children, family and friends in his life.
In quieter moments, Jimmy found solace in the captivating worlds created by Stephen King, his collection of King's books was well-worn from
countless readings.
Additionally, Jimmy was a hands-on individual who loved working on various woodworking projects, he approached each endeavor with determination and a keen eye for detail. His passion for creating and fixing things was evident in every meticulously. crafted piece.
Beyond his hobbies and interests, Jimmy will be remembered for his extraordinary capacity to touch the lives of everyone he met. His warm and welcoming demeanor drew people to him effortlessly, and he had a remarkable ability to make anyone feel valued and appreciated.
Jimmy embodied the essence of kindness, compassion and care in every interaction. He approached life with an open heart, always ready to serve as a beacon of light in the lives of many. Whether it was his family, friends, colleagues, or even strangers, Jimmy had a way of
leaving a lasting impression of love and kindness. His legacy of compassion will continue to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
Jimmy is survived by his brothers William, Stephen and Thomas and sisters Elizabeth (the late Kennieth R. Mysinger) and Sharon. He's also survived by longtime partner Angelique LaVake, chosen daughters Sabrina LaVake and Stephanie Grabda and chosen granddaughters Anna,
Alaina and Aurora Grabda.
Family has requested everyone to wear your favorite sports attire, especially Detroit Lions.
Visitation will be held February 23,2024 from 3:00PM-7:00PM at the Dearborn Chapel of Howe Peterson Funeral Home, 22546 Michigan Avenue, Dearborn Michigan, 313-561-1500
