Jeffery Deckert passed away peacefully May 11th 2026 at the age of 58. Loving son of Donna (Ron) Raymer, and Frederick (Norma) Deckert, brother of Michael (Carol) Deckert, Tod Deckert, Bill (Lora) Deckert, Lori (Glen) Christian, Dave (Jennifer) Deckert, Step-brother to Ronnie Raymer, Kelly Raymer, Erin Birchenough, Jackie Martin, Linda Tuder, and Joey Lloyd, along with 13 nieces, 6 nephews, 4 great-nieces and 3 great-nephews.
Growing up, Jeff loved fishing. Any chance he had to cast a line, he took it. He looked forward to the family’s annual trips to Camp Dearborn, and that early love for the outdoors stayed with him throughout his life. Whether he was fishing, building campfires, or riding his bike for miles, Jeff found peace and purpose outside. He loved getting out, meeting people, and being part of the world around him.
Jeff enjoyed going to Detroit Tigers games and catching concerts downtown with friends whenever he could. He loved anything related to car racing, and in recent years even managed to wrangle his mom into watching poker with him. His interests were wide, but what stayed constant was the way he shared them with enthusiasm, humor, and a desire to connect.
Jeff was compassionate to those he loved and to anyone who showed him kindness. And if he didn’t like you, he wasn’t afraid to let you know. His quick wit could catch you off guard, and he had a way of making people laugh at exactly the moment they needed it often more than he realized. He kept life interesting, and he brought light into rooms without even trying.
More than anything, Jeff wanted to be accepted, to spend time with people who treated him well, and to help whenever he could. He was always willing to lend a hand right up until the moment he no longer could.
Jeff was deeply loved, and he will be profoundly missed by all those who took the time to truly know him.
The family has chosen to have Private family gathering and cremation for Jeffery provided by Howe-Peterson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 22546 Michigan Avenue, Dearborn, Mi., 48124, 313-561-1500.
