Jeffrey Wayne
Hensley
October 7, 1976 – March 6, 2025
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jeffrey, a man whose life was marked by his passion for nature, history, and the love he had for his family. Jeff passed away on March 6 2025, leaving behind a legacy of knowledge, curiosity, and a deep appreciation for the world around him.
Jeff was an outdoor enthusiast. He spent a majority of his time walking through the woods, exploring the beauty of nature, and searching for Native American artifacts in Canton, MI. He came across several of these treasures over the years and would show them with a sense of pride and respect for what they represented in history. One of his absolute favorites was doing anything with his son, as he loved him so dearly. Together, they would hike through the woods, share quiet moments, and enjoy the simple pleasure of being in nature.
A passionate hunter, Jeff spent many hours in the wild, hunting deer, boar, and even ram, with a respect always for the animals and the land. His love for the outdoors was also evident in his passion for fishing, where he found peace in the calm of the water and the thrill of the catch.
History was a lifelong passion for Jeff, and his interests were as varied as they were profound. He had a particular fondness for ancient Roman history, dedicating countless hours to researching and learning about the past. His enthusiasm for learning was inspiring, and he had an uncanny ability to learn about almost any subject. Whenever Jeff would say, "I've been looking into..." you knew to buckle up for an extensive, well-researched explanation. His thirst for knowledge was so strong that he would often reach out to experts across the globe in order to be sure the information he gathered was as accurate and comprehensive as it could be.
Besides his intellectual pursuits, Jeff was also a man of action. A 4th-degree black belt in Taekwondo, he was a serious competitor in his youth, winning both the Kansas City State Championship and the Midwest Championship in Taekwondo. His self-discipline and dedication to the martial art said a lot about his unwavering focus and work ethic.
Jeff was also a talented musician who played the guitar. Whether he was playing a well-known song or composing his own, music was another form of expression that he enjoyed.
Above all, Jeff was a loving father and a devoted family man. His son was the center of his world, and he loved him without end. The time they spent together was precious, and Jeff found immense joy in passing on his love for history, the outdoors, and learning to his son.
Jeff leaves behind a legacy of knowledge, passion, and a deep love of the natural world. His curiosity and enthusiasm for life will be sorely missed, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He is survived by his son Julian, parents David (Leah) Hensley and his mother the late Linda McIntosh. He is also survived by many friends and loved ones who were touched by his kindness, intelligence, and unwavering spirit.
