Jeffrey Lawrence McDonald, age 64, a long-time resident of Taylor, Michigan, passed away peacefully at Henry Ford Hospice, Detroit, on December 9, 2023, with a good friend Mary Lakner at his side, after a lionhearted battle with cancer.

Jeff was born to Lawrence V. McDonald and Karen N. McDonald (nee Konkel) on June 28, 1959. After graduating from Waterford High School, he worked various positions while earning seventy credits toward an Associate's Degree in Business Management, until entering the United States Air Force in 1982. He trained at Keesler AFB in Biloxi, Mississippi as a USAF Electronic Warfare System Specialist, receiving a Secret Security Clearance. He was discharged in 1986 having completed his tour of duty at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. Upon returning to civilian life, Jeff worked at Greenfield Mortgage, Lambrecht Company, and Exchange Mortgage as a Senior Loan Officer. He ended his working career retiring from Manheim Auto Auction in 2019. He was a former member of Harsens Island Saint Clair Flats Association and Harsens Island Historical Society.

Jeff was known for his quick wit, sense of humor, and big smile. He was a kind and generous person, a fighter for the underdog, and a proud American. His friends enjoyed the results of his excellent cooking skills, music appreciation, and creative approach to holiday celebrations. He was an avid collector of vintage and crystal Christmas ornaments.

Jeff is preceded in death by his mother, Karen. He is survived by his father, Lawrence, and sister, Lisa McDonald, as well as numerous cousins, many friends, and longtime neighbors.

Howe-Peterson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Taylor, Michigan, is assisting the family with arrangements. Inurnment to be determined by the family at a later date.
