Obituary

Jeffrey "Skeeter" Ruselowski passed away on January 30, 2023 at the age of 61 after a courageous eight-year battle with cancer.

Beloved husband of the late Diana.

Loving son of John and the late Joan.

Dear brother of Greg (Laurie), Gary (Tammi) and Gayle (Rob) Korte and the late Matt (Jenny).

Caring uncle of Erik, Drew, Jessie, Nicole, Derek, Ava, Jake and Kyle.

Honorary uncle of Jennifer, Coco, Lindsey, Rachel, and Madison.

Jeff was an extraordinarily loving, caring, and selfless man, who consistently put others ahead of himself.  Despite the burdens of his disease, Jeff always found time to care for his father, support his numerous nieces and nephews at their important life-events, enjoy a wide variety of activities with friends, and keep the local small mammal and bird population well-nourished.  If you needed a stump pulled, device repaired, heavy object moved, or an assist on just about anything, a call to Jeff was a sure bet for a quick response.

His wife, Diana, was the love of his life and they spent many happy years together.  As Diana's health deteriorated from lifelong diabetes, Jeff provided steadfast care and unwavering support until she sadly passed away almost six years ago.

Jeff placed a high value on experiences over possessions, and really enjoyed his time with family and friends at events such as weddings, graduations, concerts and more.  Jeff's passion was travel, and he logged hundreds of thousands of miles crisscrossing the country in vehicles of questionable reliability.  He held a special place in his heart for his beloved Up North: Mr. D's lake cabin near Cadillac, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Whitefish Point, and Lakes Michigan, Superior, and Huron were favorite destinations on nearly every weekend throughout the summer, along with occasional boat parties on Lake St. Clair. Jeff also had an affinity for visiting quirky tourist spots in search of aliens, bigfoot, domestic cats of some notoriety, and more.   Jeff highly recommends Oswald's Bear Ranch in the U.P.  Jeff's impressive collection of Petoskey Stones and amethyst crystals are testimony to the joy he had in spending endless hours beachcombing and rockhounding in Michigan and beyond.  Many of his finds have been gifted to family and friends.

In his backyard, Jeff enjoyed growing and sharing a variety of vegetables and tending to his koi fish pond. He also had a swimming pool that was a source of years of entertainment for nieces and nephews.

Though the past few years have been a challenge for Jeff, he never lost his sense of fun and adventure. His fondest hope is that rather than feeling sad and mourning his passing, we go and have a party on Lake Michigan to celebrate and remember the good times he had when he was here. We can keep Jeff's memory alive by thinking of him every time we look out onto the Great Lakes or see a beautiful stone that he may have picked up. He was one of a kind and will truly be missed by those that loved him.
