Obituary

John Aiello was born on July 20th, 1935 and passed on April 6th, 2021 at the age of 85. He was the beloved husband of Sharon Aiello, devoted father of Jack, Robert (Nicole) and Renee (Borche) and cherished grandfather of Noah, Madison and Bella. John is preceded in death by his parents Giacchino and Isabella Aiello and the oldest of six children, brother (Tony) and sisters (Ida, Marie, Rosie and Linda).

He was married to the love of his life for 56 magical years. In that time, this spunky duo built a beautiful life, overflowing with love, laughter and grand adventure. Never taking a moment for granted, Johnny was always ready to travel the globe and soak up every sight along the way. Teaching lessons about the value of time and the gift of family was always part of his hidden agenda. Whether it was hitting the slopes of Colorado or jumping the waves of St. Pete Beach, Johnny was like a bursting ball of boundless energy, bouncing from one adventure to the next.

He was not only a member of the Moose, American Legion and Knights of Columbus, but also a true believer in their traditions. Playing an active role in planning retirement parties for the UAW was one of the many causes he held near and dear to his heart. If by some chance his car was parked, guaranteed you could find him at one of the clubs, either playing cards or golfing with his buddies. That is unless it was a Sunday Night… where the only place he could be is at home, sitting by the fire, bitchin' at the screen, of course over some shitty play the Lions made.

Throughout his lifetime he wore many hats. After service in the military he returned to work as a butcher for many years before embarking on his second career at Ford Motor Company. Shortly after taking a job as a cleaner, he took an apprenticeship and attended classes while working to eventually become a skilled Metal Model Maker Journeymen. After giving back 27 years of service, he chose to retire and begin his new life exploring and enjoying the world with his wife, family and friends.

John was a devout Catholic. He believed you should never take anything for granted, rather count your blessings and keep them close. He was a firm believer that faith, family and food should be at the forefront of any decision making. He was rough around the edges, but had a heart of gold. He was a unique soul whose contagious spirit has forever left a mark on all those who have had the pleasure of knowing him.

The funeral Liturgy will be Friday, April 23rd 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church,  22430 Michigan Ave, Dearborn, 48124. Visitation will be Wednesday and Thursday 1-9 p.m. at the Dearborn Chapel of the Howe-Peterson Funeral Home.  Rosary Thursday 7:00 p.m.  Entombment with Army Honors will take place at Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery.

To Those I Love

If I should ever leave you whom I love

To go along the silent way

Grieve not

Nor speak of me with tears,

But laugh and talk of me as I if I were beside you there.

(I'd come-I'd come, could I but find a way!

But would not tears and grief be barriers?)

And when you hear a song

Or see a bird I loved.

Please do not let the thought of me be sad

For I am loving you just as I always have

You were so good to me!

There are so many things I wanted still to do

So many things to say to you

remember that I did not fear

It was just leaving you

That was so hard to face

We cannot see beyond

But this I know;

I loved you so

'Twas heaven here with you!
