John Howard Dillon passed away unexpectedly at his home on May 17, 2024 at the age of 69. He was born on November 25, 1954 in Detroit, Michigan to Shirley and Howard Dillon.

John is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 45 years, Debra. Dear brother of Elizabeth, Beverly (Larry), Bonnie (Bobby), and Patrick. Dear brother-in-law of Dan. Proud uncle of Tauna (Chad), Nicole (Chris), Nova (Andre'ya), Ryan, Paxton (Julie), Brandon (Rachael). Great uncle of Jay, Cory (Peyton), Crai, Peyton, Desirae, Caden, Evan, Rylee, Gage, Kayden, Maverick, Jacob, and Elliana. Great-great uncle of Everleigh and Londyn. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Alice, and his brother, James.

John graduated from Fordson High School in 1973. He was a dedicated Wayne County employee for most of his working life, retiring as an Equipment Repair Foreman. During retirement, John loved to stay busy – playing on the lake, going to estate sales and auctions, going for long drives in the country, discovering new places, shooting handguns, reading U.S. history, and keeping up on current events.

He loved to get his hands dirty; he enjoyed to wrench on vehicles and he maintained his mechanics certifications. He also found joy in building and refurbishing things.

John was an ardent patriot and was proud to be an American.

Above all, John had a fierce love for his family and friends and he showed his love by finding meaningful ways to help them and make them happy. He always looked forward to quality time with his family.

He was an amazing person and will truly be missed by those who knew him.

Visitation at the Dearborn Location of Howe-Peterson Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Thursday, May 23, 1-8pm. Rosary will be said at 7pm. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, May 24, at 11am. Interment to follow at Michigan Memorial Park.
