John McDonald passed away on December 30, 2021 at the age of 75.

Beloved husband of Denise.    

Loving father of the late John Michael, John C. (Kristine), Kathleen (Nathan) Sevener, Mary Gollan and Michael (Carolyn Krieger).    

Dear stepfather of Paul (Cindy) Sharp and Cara (Paul) Tennies.    

Proud grandfather of 17.    

Brother of Kathleen Herman and the late Timothy (Nina) McDonald.

John also leaves behind many dear nieces and nephews, family members and friends.

John was hired at Henry Ford Community College in 1969 where he taught English and retired in 2013.  He was elected as president of  AFT Local 1650 in 1978 and continued in this role until his recent retirement. In 1979, John became an AFT Michigan vice-president and was appointed to the AFT Higher Education Program Policy Council 1998. In 2012, John was elected as a National AFT Vice President  representing  1.7  million members.

John served as president of Dearborn Rotary in 2002 and named Rotarian of the year in 2003.
