Obituary

Mulcahy, John F. "Jack" passed away August 14, 2015 at age 84. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Dolores Mulcahy, and sons James (Edie), Matthew, Michael (Joyce), and Martin (Donna). He is also survived by grandchildren Christopher, Brendan, Emily, Sarah, Kathryn, and Colin. He is pre-deceased by his parents John and Elizabeth Mulcahy, who emigrated from Ireland, and siblings James, Daniel, Thomas, Elizabeth, and Patrick (aka Buttons). A proud native of Southwest Detroit, Jack was a 1949 graduate of Holy Redeemer High School and long-time organizer of the annual Forth of July Parade on Vernor Highway. He had a deep affection for the City of Detroit, leading clean-up efforts through Project Pride and working closely with the campaigns of the late Detroit Mayor Jerome Cavanaugh and Councilman Jack Kelley. Trained as a draftsman, Jack worked over the years as a handyman "Jack of all trades" then later as a HUD housing inspector, a building inspector for the City of Dearborn and an ordinance officer in Redford Twp. Jack was also a proud Irish-American, and a colorful character who had more than a bit of blarney in him. He enjoyed nothing better than getting together with family and friends. Family and friends will gather at the Dearborn Chapel of the Howe-Peterson Funeral, 22546 Michigan Ave. from 3-9 pm Tuesday, August 18th. A Funeral Mass will take place at 12 noon on Wednesday, August 19th at St. Anselm Catholic Church, 17650 W. Outer Drive, Dearborn Heights. (instate at 11:30 am) Rosary 7 pm Tuesday Memorials may be made to ARC 22450 Park St. Dearborn, MI 48124
