John R. Schlick passed away peacefully at home on April 1, 2023 at the age of 75 with his loving wife, Pat, by his side.

John was a good, hardworking man. He joined the Navy at the age of 17 and went on multiple tours during the Vietnam war.

Upon returning home, John spent the rest of his military career in recruiting for the Navy. He was proud of his military service but unfortunately, due to the nature of his jobs, John's health began to decline. His career was cut short when his disability forced him into retirement.

After his early retirement, John kept himself busy with a wide range of hobbies. He was a very talented woodworker. He had a garage full of specialty tools, from planers to lathes. Some of these were purchased during his time working for Home Depot. He would create beautiful pieces of furniture and other treasures.

Staying true to his military background, John would often go target shooting. He wanted to make sure to keep his skills sharpened on the range.

Though he wasn't a champion angler, John loved to go fishing. Just being out on the water surrounded by nature brought him a sense of peace and calm.

Another relaxing activity was building model ships. He was a master at assembling the most intricate kits with remarkable detail.

John is the beloved husband of Pat for 51 wonderful years.

He also leaves behind his dear daughter in law Heather Williams.

John was a kind soul. He will be dearly missed.

Visitation on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at the Dearborn Chapel of Howe-Peterson Funeral Homes from 1:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with a family Eulogy at 7:00 P.M.
