John "Jay" Slaughter passed away on December 28, 2020 at the age of 51.

Jay was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan where he attended Chadsey High School.  He loved swimming and was on the Swim Team in High School and also in the Boys Club.

He was a proud veteran who enlisted in the Navy in 1988 and was discharged in 1994.

He was married to Cathy for 28 years.  He was a loving father to his two children; Kelsey, born in 1996, and Matthew, born in 2001.  Prior to becoming an electrician, Jay worked in the culinary arts. In his pastime he enjoyed riding and building ATVs, which were also his favorite family vacations.

Jay recently bought his dream home in Berrien County with his best friend, Toby.

Preceded in death by his parents, John and Joan Slaughter.

He will be forever missed by his friends and family.

Memorial Service at 5:00PM with a gathering from 1:00PM until 5:00PM on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at the Taylor Chapel of Howe-Peterson Funeral Home, 9800 Telegraph Rd.
