Obituary

John Alexander "Jack" Sommerville passed peacefully at his home on December 5, 2016, with his loving wife of 60 years, Helen, by his side. John was born April 27, 1931 in Dearborn, Michigan, to Robert and Jessie Sommerville of Motherwell, Scotland. He was a wonderful father and lifelong role model to: Sharon (Steve Seyferth), Robert (Terri), David (Cindy) and Susan (John Courtright); a devoted "Papa" to his 13 grandchildren; and a loving brother to Rae Livingston. As a proud graduate of Fordson High School in Dearborn and the University of Michigan, he served as a medic in the United States Army. John was an ardent supporter of the game of tennis and introduced the sport to his family. He was also the President of the local USTA/Southeastern Michigan Tennis Association. Professionally, John was a certified public accountant. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations may be sent to support the University of Michigan CVC Cardiac Surgery Fund. Checks may be made to "University of Michigan" and sent to Medical Development, 1000 Oakbrook, Suite 100, Ann Arbor, MI 48104.  You may also call 734-764-6777 or visit the website http://victors.us/johnsommerville to make your gift.
