Surmanian, and the late Mike Surmanian.
Caring grandfather to Carrie McMillan, Michael Wellman, Kathleen Segraves, Kelsey Slaughter, Matthew Slaughter, and Brendan Rafferty.
Dear great-grandfather to Keegan McMillan, Mackenzie McMillan, Dominic Segrave, Miles Segrave, and Wyatt Belonge.
Treasured brother of Peggy Jarvis and the late Clemance Baker.
John was a man of many interests. He enjoyed kicking back and relaxing while watching the Detroit Tigers, Lions, and Wings, even if they weren't doing so well. He had a knack for playing black jack at casinos, and even the private poker games he played with his close friends. He devoted over 50 years of his life to the local Detroit Masonic Temple and was even a Past Master. John was well liked by anyone who met him. He took care of his family first and was very proud of his accomplishments. He was especially funny with a winning smile. John will be missed so much by those who's lives he touched.
Visitation will be held Thursday, August 16th from 2-8PM with a Masonic service at 7PM. The funeral will be Friday, August 17th at 11AM. All services will be located at the Taylor Chapel of Howe-Peterson Funeral Home, 9800 Telegraph. John will be laid to rest next to Frances at Woodmere Cemetery in Detroit.
