John Lawrence VanLandingham, 86, of Allen Park, Michigan passed away on January 29th, 2026. John leaves behind three loving children, Janelle (Brian) Batkins, John (Angie) VanLandingham and Shane VanLandingham. He had four grandchildren, Michael and Josh Batkins, Austin and Ethan VanLandingham as well as four great-grandchildren, Mila, Beau, Mikayla and Brady. John was predeced in death by his wife, Kathy.

John proudly served our nation in the Navy and spent his career as a flooring salesman. He finally retired at age 85.

John was known for his dry wit and wonderful sense of humor. Everyone who met him remarked about how funny he was. He loved old westerns and movies in general. His command of movie trivia was impressive and his collection of DVD's is unmatched.

A memorial gathering will take place at Howe-Peterson Funeral Home & Cremation Services at 22546 Michigan Ave. Dearborn on Friday, February 6 from 2:00-8:00pm.
