Johnny Sanchez, 93, passed on into eternal rest January 16, 2021 in Livonia, Michigan.
He was married to his late loving wife, Virginia, for 65 blissful years prior to her passing in 2018.
Beloved father to John Sanchez Jr., Aurora "Bunny" Schultz (Rick), Phil Sanchez (Bernice), Rick Sanchez (Pauline Solano), Christina "Chrissy" Castillo (Manuel), and the late Bill Sanchez.
Caring grandfather to Erik, Nicole, Lisa, Michael, Kristin, Sarah, David, Jesse, Olivia, Hayley, Marisa, Rob, Daniel, Xavier, Christopher, and the late Maryann.
Dear great-grandfather to 17 and great-great grandfather to 3.
Treasured brother of Agnes Smith, Mary Smith, Rita Delk, Robert Sanchez, Alphonso "Buddy" Sanchez, Irene Jacob and the late Pauline Rodriguez, Trinidad Sanchez, Solomon Sanchez, and Grace Torango.
He will also be missed by many, many nieces and nephews.
Johnny was proud Army Veteran who served 6 years during the Korean War. He retired from Ford Motor Company in 1976 after 30 years.
Johnny loved nature and enjoyed reading National Geographic magazines. He also was a huge fan of Western films and a big history buff. Johnny loved life and his family was his life. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, especially watching Disney movies with them. In his spare time, he enjoyed making rosaries with his wife at the Blue Army Marian Center and at home. Johnny and Virginia also volunteered together at the All Saints Food Pantry in Detroit for 19 years. Johnny was often called "Mr. Miyagi" by his family and friends because of the strong resemblance. He was an avid gardener, he loved planting and growing vegetables, especially tomatoes.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 21st from 3:00-9:00pm, with a scripture service at 7:00pm, at the Taylor Chapel of Howe-Peterson Funeral Home located at 9800 Telegraph. Funeral Mass at St. Constance Catholic Church, 21555 Kinyon, Taylor, MI. The Funeral Mass will be private due to the limited number of guests allowed in the church. Inurnment at Our Lady of Hope will take place on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at 11:30AM followed by a private memorial service and luncheon.
