Obituary

Jonathan Lee Smith, a beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend passed away in Dearborn, Michigan, on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at the age of 68. Jon was born in Cambridge, OH, on January 24, 1957, to Paul Wilson Smith and Helen Olive Smith, joining siblings, Philip Allen and Lois Marcella.

Jon graduated from Western High School, in Parma, MI, where he played trumpet for the marching band. He continued his education, in music, through Spring Arbor College for three years before joining the workforce full time.

Jon proudly served as a Calibration Specialist, with a top secret clearance, in the United States Army for four years. He received several commendations. Following his service, he built test stands for HR Kruger, followed by several years with a paper mill. Eventually, Jon finished his career, with Trescal, running a lab within Ford Motor Co.

Jon enjoyed traveling, playing golf, and singing in the choir at Inter-City Baptist Church.

Jon was predeceased by his parents Paul and Helen Smith; and an infant brother Charley.

Jon is survived by his beloved wife Nora, with whom he shared over 38 years of marriage, his brother Philip, his sister Lois, and other loving family members and friends.

Jon's life was defined by his dedication to his faith and his expressed desire to serve others. His handyman skills will be sorely missed by many. Although he leaves behind an enduring void in the lives of many, his unwavering faith in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ will hearten those who knew him.
