Joseph Richard
Hedke
July 10, 2001 – August 26, 2023
Joseph "Joey" Richard Hedke, age 22, passed away August 26, 2023.
Beloved son of Richard and Leann Hedke.
Dear brother of Jillian (Max Winkler), Dennis (Alyssa), and Claire Hedke.
Cherished uncle to Luna and Charlie Joe.
Adored by so many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Joseph lived a vibrant, selfless, and wonder-filled life. There was not one moment that he wasted in his time on earth. The impact that he was able to make in 22 years was more than some can boast in an entire lifetime.
Joey was at home in the outdoors. He made so many memories while playing water sports, like paddleboarding, and of course fishing. Nature was Joey's zen place. He craved its peace and beauty. Some of his favorite places to be were under a twinkling night sky or watching in awe at the sun rising or setting. Alongside water sports, he had a natural penchant for anything he could get his hands on – his athleticism knew no bounds! He was instantly good no matter the sport: a talent in and of itself.
Joe knew how to light up a room. His sense of humor could make even the most stoic person crack a smile. He could make you laugh by singing, or at least his version of singing…, cutting a rug (just ask his dance partner Dennis!), or by his own, very unique, laughter. Joey truly was the life of the party no matter where he went.
Above all, Joseph loved his family more than anything. If he could have his way, they'd all live in their very own family commune together. He was amazing with children, so patient and engaging, which made him the best uncle to Luna and Charlie. He always had an ear to lend and a shoulder to cry on. His empathy allowed him to understand people on such a deep level that he could "wow" you with the perfect gift or help with a tailored bit of advice.
Joey was fearless, always down for an adventure or spontaneous journey. He was fiercely loyal to those that mattered to him. He was generous and considerate. Wild and strong-willed. Brave. Thoughtful. He had the purest soul. Joey was so many things to so many people, and he will never be forgotten.
Memorial contributions in Joey's honor may be made out to the Joseph Richard Hedke Memorial Fund to Benefit the Michigan Outdoor Wishmakers Organization
