Joseph James
Lutton
June 30, 1936 – March 21, 2026
Joseph Lutton "Joe" passed away on March 21, 2026, at the age of 89, leaving behind a legacy of service, dedication, and love for his family and community. He was the beloved son of Alva and Nel Lutton. His father, Alva, served as the first Fire Chief of Taylor Township, and his mother, Nel, was the Director of Taylor Township Schools, both instilling in him a lifelong commitment to public service.
Following in their footsteps, Joe proudly served the Taylor Township community for many years through the DPW as a Foreman and Superintendent of the Parks and Recreation. He also held the rank of Sergeant with the Tayor Township Auxiliary Police and was a dedicated participant in the Goodfellows, giving back to those in need each year.
Beyond his service, Joe was a certified mechanic and a passionate automotive enthusiast who had a deep love for classic cars. Joe rebuilt and owned several classic cars; a hobby he took great pride in throughout his life. He found great joy in working on and appreciating "hot rods," a passion he carried throughout his life.
Joe cherished life and, above all, his family. He was a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather known as "Papa Joe," Brother and Uncle. There was never a day in his life when he didn't express his love for life. He never seemed to feel his age and always had a genuine joy that touched everyone around him. Everyone who knew Joe, his family, friends, and even those he met briefly, remarked on his kindness, thoughtfulness, and the care he showed to others.
To the very end, Joe demonstrated tremendous physical and emotional strength. He faced life's challenges with quiet courage, resilience, and unwavering determination, leaving a powerful example for all who knew and loved him.
His warmth, generosity, and unwavering spirit left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him, and his memory will continue to inspire love, compassion, and joy in the lives he touched. Our Dad and "Papa Joe" will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
