Obituary

Joseph "Xidja" Micallef, 69, passed away April 14th, 2018 in Trenton, Michigan.

Beloved by his wife of 47 years, Carmen.
Loving father to Catherina (Ceasar) Perez, Sandra (Juan) Chavarria, Cina (Jesus) Reyez-Garay, and Jose Nino.
Dearest grandfather to Johnathan (Erica) Nino, Christian (Jamie) Reyez-Garay, Carmen Chavarria, Juan Chavarria, Jordan Reyez-Garay, Joseph Reyez-Garay, Andrew Nino, Adrian Nino, and Sarah Nino.
Caring great-grandfather to Bella Nino.
Treasured brother to Marip, Luis, Grace, George, Charlie, and the late Doris.

Joseph was a loyal member of the community. He served for 35 years at St. Leo's Church. He helped feed the homeless and established a medical and dental clinic for those who couldn't afford healthcare. He was proud of his heritage and was part of the Knights of Malta and even served as president for the Maltese American Club for a time. In his spare time, he relaxed by watching the birds by his home on the water and enjoying a good meal.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 16th from 3:00-8:00pm at the Dearborn Chapel of Howe-Peterson Funeral Home located at 11546 Michigan Ave. A rosary will be recited at 7:00pm. Funeral mass will be the following day, April 17th, instate 9:30 until mass at 10:30, at Most Holy Trinity Church 1050 Porter St. in Detroit. Entombment will follow at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery.
