Obituary

Josephine M. Bondie, age 76, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2017.  She was born on December 6, 1940 to the late Adam and Annette (Stanek) Mycek and was a lifelong Dearborn resident. Jo Marie was the youngest of five children and was preceded in death by her two brothers and two sisters.  She was married to the love of her life, the late George W. Bondie, for 23 years.  George and his "Jo Jo" spent many happy years enjoying golf, bowling, summers at Camp Dearborn, winters in Florida and participation in Dearborn politics.  Mr. and Mrs. Bondie traveled through many states and several European countries.  She was "Aunt Jo" to her loving nieces Anne M. (Eric) Williams and Susan E. (Milton) Williams, her great-nephew Phillip A. Parlovecchio, Jr. and great-niece Jenna R. Parlovecchio. She is also survived by her long-time friend Patricia Stalbaum.

Jo Marie became involved in Dearborn politics and community life over 50 years ago.  She was a volunteer on political campaigns and in civic organizations.  Mrs. Bondie was appointed to the Dearborn City Beautiful Commission in 1964 and holds emeritus status.  In 1990, the year that marked her 25th anniversary of service on the Commission, she was appointed Michigan Week Chairperson and received the Distinguished Service Award from the Keep Michigan Beautiful Commission. www.howepeterson.com
