Obituary

Josette (known to family and friends as Maryse) Mueller died peacefully at home on August 28 in the comfort of family.  Age 85. The most beloved wife for 58 years of Bernd. Loving mother of Carl (Kathryn) and Nathalie Garrett (late husband Dale).  Proud grand-mother of Gabrielle, Elena, Grace and Colin. Dear sister of Marie-France, brothers Bernard, Jean and Pierre. Born in Pauillac, (Medoc), France, she worked as an administrator at her father's winery upon graduation from college in Bordeaux and Bayonne. Her career continued as the owner and manager of a bookstore, a guide, and a public relations manager.  Maryse attended the London School of Languages and returned to France to work as an interpreter and translator for the U.S. Army in La Rochelle where she met her future husband. Upon completion of his military service, they moved to the United States and settled in Michigan. She shared her linguistic gift from 1976 to 1987 as a teacher of French for the French Institute of Detroit and was a member of the Alliance Française de Grosse Pointe. Maryse was an artist with many canvasses to her credit, an avid gardener and a founding member of the Taylor Garden Club, a passionate cook, a wine connoisseur and member of the American Wine Society, an expert seamstress, a music lover, movie fan and a far-ranging traveler. Her infectious laughter and joie de vivre will be missed.
