Joy Lynn
Reome
September 22, 1936 – June 4, 2022
Our dear mother Joy Lynn (Culbertson) Reome passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 4th, 2022 at the age of 85. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when needed. Left to cherish her memory are her three children: Renee (James) Steele, Gwenn (Jeff) Lansing, and Jim (Deena) Reome. Her grandchildren brought her great joy: Amanda (Chris), James "Bubba", Adriana (Brazil), Jordan, Sara & Adam (Chicago). Joy was known as "GG" to her Great Grandchildren, Bryson, Layla, & Diana. She was also a fun-loving mother to many she called her adopted children.
Joy was born in Tacoma, Virginia and loved her southern roots. She showed this love by sharing memories of her treasured childhood with her children. She moved to Michigan with her parents in the 1950's and shortly after met L. James "Jim" Reome. She married Jim in August 1958 where they raised a family in a Historical Ford home in Dearborn. Together they built many memories and experiences with friends and family. Whether they were traveling in Vegas with Stan and Sharon Drall or at the Detroit Auto Show with Ken Ford, Joy always enjoyed socializing with her lifelong friends at local establishments. She enjoyed traveling around Italy and Greece as well as shopping and road trips with her best friend Sharon. Even with all the glamour and unique travel destinations, her favorite was time spent with family and close friends. Joy's winters were often spent in Florida, where she met her later in life companion, Peter B, a musician who brought her many days of musical joy. Her summers were spent in Canada at the cottage on the shores of Lake Erie and, trust me, if you were at the cottage, she made sure there was a commemorative photo taken of the group on the front porch!
While there is an emptiness left in our hearts, we are so grateful for the "Joyful" memories. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and amazingly caring grandmother and great grandmother. We will use these feelings to continue her legacy.
Funeral services will be held at Howe Peterson in Dearborn on Tuesday June 7, 2022, from 3:00-7:00pm. Service at 6pm.
In lieu of flowers, Donations can be made to her hometown church:
