Obituary

Judith (Judy) Katherine Koos passed away on December 12, 2023, at the age of 83.  She came into this world on September 8, 1940, as the first of four children born to Victor and Euphemia Koos.  Judy was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, and her quick wit and energy will be missed by many.

In her free time, Judy greatly enjoyed traveling, regularly relishing opportunities to share fun—and often lesser known—facts with her travel companions. She loved rooting for the Detroit Tigers, the University of Michigan Wolverines, and most especially, for the ones she held dear.  Judy followed the stock market and politics, holding strong opinions about both, but discussing each in a way that did not invalidate the views of others during conversations.

Judy had a work ethic second to none: She worked until her illness made it impossible, just three months prior to her death. Judy could write in shorthand and type lightning fast; she had a strong command of the English language and a penchant for organizing information and data. These skills made her indispensable as the Administrative Assistant to the Dean of Students at Henry Ford College. They also made her integral to the success of her husband's recording business, all while raising three children.  She was a progressive, intelligent, out-going woman who was respected by all who knew her.  Determined and proud, she always gave her best to everything she did.

Judy is preceded in death by her husbands, Richard Becker and Ronald Koos, and her aunt (and second sister), Rosemary DiDomizio. She is survived by her sister, Suzanne Savoy; her brothers, Victor (Pamela) Koos and Timothy Koos; her children, Richard Becker, Jr., Robert (Jennifer) Becker, and Amelia (Gerald) Vann; and by her grandchildren, Joshua, Michelle, Grace, Morgan, June, William, Lillian, Jackson, and Charlotte.  Judy is also remembered by nieces, nephews, cousins (is it first, second, or once-removed?), and other loving relatives and friends.

A private family visitation will be held at the Howe-Peterson Funeral Home in Dearborn, Michigan on Friday, December 15, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.  Everyone is invited to join the family in paying his/her/their final respects from 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday, December 16, 2023, from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.  A memorial service to celebrate Judy's life through personal anecdotes will begin at 10:30 a.m.  All attendees are welcome to share meaningful memories.

A procession will take Judy from Howe-Peterson to Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield, Michigan, where she will be laid to rest.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital .
