Obituary

Our Dear Mother, Julia (Acosta) Cerda, sadly passed away on Friday, November 3, 2023 at the age of 89. She is preceded in death by her father, Bonifacio Joseph Acosta and her Mother Remedios (Nino) Acosta. Julia was born and lived most of her life in Southwest Detroit Michigan. Having moved to Dearborn in 2021, Mom was loved by all that knew her. She loved to cook for her family and was known for making the best salsa ever. She had a witty sense of humor and a contagious laugh. Mom was very religious with an exceptionally close bond to St. Jude and Saint Padre Pio. Julia was the beloved wife of the Late Cruz Raphael Cerda Sr., who together owned and operated Raphael's Market in W. Detroit Michigan, located at Plumer and Junction from the mid 1970's to the mid 1990's. Before moving to Dearborn, Julia, for many years was involved with Meals On Wheels often delivering meals on holidays to many homebound Detroit residents.

Julia is survived by her son and daughter, John (Connie) Serda Jr., Anita (Joseph) Cilia. Loving Grand Mother of Joseph (Leslie) Cilia Jr., Peter (Samantha) Cilia, Victor (Angie) Ramos, Anthony (Melissa) Serda Jr., Margaret Serda, Samuel Serda, Lydia Martinez, Rudolpho Hatcher (Molly), Rebecca (Joshua) Norman, Diana (Jeff) Stegeman, Adriana (Austin) Schmitt, Christina (Talmadge) Rosseau, Gavin (Maloree) West, Carey (Jared) Kirk, Emmanuel (Lauren) Serda, Jordan (Tara) Serda, Steven (Dyla) Serda, Aaron (Chyann) Serda Sr., and Christina Morales. Julia is also survived by many great and great-great grandchildren. She is proceeded in death by four children, Patricia Serda, Anthony Serda Sr., Arturo Martinez and Steven Serda.

Julia was a loving mother and a one of a kind grandmother. Also loved and revered by many nieces and nephews. Julia leaves a legacy of unmatched wisdom, love and faith of God with a devotion to family. Julia will be forever loved and greatly missed by all.

Funeral Mass for Julia will be Thursday, November 16, 10:00am at Our Lady of the Angels, 6442 Pelham Rd., Taylor Mi. There will be a luncheon at Our Lady of the Angels following the Mass.

Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Detroit, 2:00pm.
