Obituary

Karoline (Karry) Rose Tocco (nee Friedrich), age 92, dear wife, mother and aunt, died peacefully at home on June 27, 2013. Born in the Banat Region of Austria-Hungary and immigrated to Detroit, USA with her parents, Michael and Anna Friedrich. Karry's parents bought a farm in Belleville, which was purchased by Henry Ford himself to build the Willow Run Bomber Plant and Airport. She enjoyed reading, geography, politics, dancing, music and traveling. Her Wanderlust for travel gave her the opportunity to see a great many places 49 of 50 states, 8 Canadian Provinces, numerous European countries, Mexico, Pre-Castro Cuba and Venezuela in South America. Her life and that of her husband were always intertwined with Ford's. Her dad was on guard at Fairlane Manor the night Henry Ford died and her husband was accepted into the Ford Trade School. The things she was always most proud of was her Catholic Religion, her Germanic Heritage and her US citizenship. She was fiercely Patriotic and a "closet activist" writing many world leaders, criminals and Jane Fonda. Survivors include her daughters, Sandra & Michelle Tocco, sisters-in-law Mary Tocco, Anna Falzone and Marie Friedrich, her cousins John Friedrich (Fla.) and Anna Siems (Wismar, Germany), and numerous nieces and nephews. Karry was preceded in death by her loving husband Salvatore, her brothers Joseph & Max and her dear sister Maryanne. Visitation will be at Howe-Peterson Funeral Home, Dearborn, MI on Sunday 3pm-9pm, Monday 2pm-8pm with the Rosary at 7pm. Funeral Mass Tuesday at the Church of the Divine Child 10am viewing at 9:30 am.
