Katherine Kay Marion Smith, September 1, 1920-December 23, 2009, of Romulus, Michigan was welcomed into eternal comfort and peace on December 23, 2009. As she departed this life at the Whitehills Health Care Center in East Lansing, MI, she was surrounded by her loving family. She was the second child to William Vassil and Anastasia Gumela Nowicki. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Daniel Paul Smith, Sr. 2001, her parents, and her brother, Peter, who was killed in WWII, her brother, Nicholas, and her sister, June Julia. She is survived by her siblings; John, Henry, Arthur and Rose Stark. She is also survived by her children; Daniel Paul Jr., Joseph William, and Richard Michael; her grandchildren Brian, Mark, Kelly Larsen, Camden, Rachael and Abigail and by her great grandchild, Calib. She was the center and rock of our family without replacement. May the memory of her struggles and joys be an inspiration to us all. In state Tuesday, 9:30am with Funeral Mass at 10:00am at S. Alfred Catholic Church, 9500 Banner, Taylor. Visitation Monday, 5-9pm at the Taylor Chapel of the Howe-Peterson Funeral Home, 9800 S. Telegraph Road.
