Kathryn Marie VanCamp, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and wife, passed away peacefully on June 14th, 2023, at her home in Dearborn, surrounded by her loving family. Her vibrant spirit and unwavering love will forever be cherished and remembered by those whose lives she touched.
Born on January 28, 1955, in Dearborn, Kathryn's journey was defined by warmth, compassion, and an unwavering dedication to her loved ones. She was a pillar of love and support as a sister, mother, and grandmother, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of her siblings, children, and grandchildren.
In her leisure time, Kathryn found joy in various activities. When her children were young, she was incredibly involved in every aspect of their school and sports lives. She dedicated much of her time helping at St. Mel's; running the concessions, volunteering at bingo, working as a lunch mom, and chaperoning field trips. She and her husband, Jeffery, were ever-present in the lives of their children and their children's friends. Their consistent dedication provided a constant source of support and guidance in their children's social circles. In later years, she adored spending quality time with her grandchildren, creating cherished memories that will be forever treasured. She was always known for buying far too many birthday and Christmas gifts! Kathryn also had a deep affection for animals and found solace in their companionship, having had many pets throughout the years. She loved the thrill of visiting the casino, enjoying those moments of excitement at the slot machine. Her culinary talents were a delight to those who were fortunate enough to savor her delicious creations. Family dinners were frequent and memorable occasions. The shared meals became cherished moments of connection and nourishment, where stories were exchanged, laughter echoed, and bonds were strengthened. She nourished not only our bodies but also our souls, leaving an enduring legacy of love and care. She will also be remembered for her sneaky sense of humor, bringing unexpected laughter to even the most ordinary moments.
Kathryn embarked on a professional journey, beginning with administrative duties at Sharon Steel after completing high school. Later, she worked as a house cleaner, dedicating her efforts to providing a clean and welcoming environment for others.
She is survived by her husband, Jeffery, with whom she shared a deep bond of love and companionship, and who stood by her side throughout life's joys and challenges. She also leaves behind her two loving children, Steve and Lauren, whom she nurtured and guided throughout their lives. Kathryn embraced her role as a mother-in-law to Meghan and Danny, fostering an atmosphere of love and support within their family. To her grandchildren, Nicholas, Maya and Lucas VanCamp, and Leo and Luna Cuadrio, she was known as Memaw or Mimi. They brought immense joy to her life and were a constant source of pride and happiness; they absolutely adored her as she did them.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her father, Martin; her mother, Anna; and her sisters Barbara, Dorothy, and Janice. She is survived by her brother, Paul, as well as her sisters, Joan and Martha.
