Kathy Overwater was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.  Surrounded by her loving children, she passed on July 29, 2022, at Beaumont Hospital in Dearborn, where she worked as a nurse for 49 years.  She is loved and already deeply missed by her children, Ken Overwater, Theresa Ferrari, Lisa Overwater and Marie Overwater; her children-in-law, Michael Ferrari and Nico Garcia-Mills, her grandchildren, Owen Ferrari, Chloe Ferrari, Nick Schropp and Eleanor Overwater; her siblings, nieces, and nephews; and by loving friends and colleagues too numerous to recount.  She was predeceased by her parents, Leslie and Eleanor Denton, and her loving husband of 40 years, Mel Overwater.  She was born May 3, 1954 in Dearborn, where she would live and work for her entire life.

She became a nurse in 1974, and worked at Oakwood (and later Beaumont) Hospital until she passed.  She cared for countless patients, trained generations of nurses, (including two of her daughters) and re-educated no shortage of doctors. She loved cooking, shopping, traveling, and having dinner with friends.  She cared for every person she met and held generations of family together with love and sheer force of will.  Her happiest moments, however, were spent with her children and grandchildren, who will forever miss her and love her.

Viewing is Wednesday, August 3, from 4-8pm, and Thursday, August 4, from 12-8pm, at Howe Peterson Funeral Home in Dearborn. A Rosary will be held on Thursday at 7pm.  Funeral mass will be Friday, August 5, at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Divine Child, 1055 N. Silvery Lane, Dearborn Michigan, 48128. Family and friends will gather at the church Friday at 9:00 a.m.
