Obituary

Lawrence Patrick Foley, of Taylor, passed away on October 11, 2021, at the age of 75.  Born on February 20, 1946, in Detroit, Michigan to Matthew and Irene Foley, Larry was the youngest of 8.  He attended Holy Redeemer Grade School and graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1964.  It was at Holy Redeemer where Larry met his future wife, Josephine (Joyce), however, they didn't start dating until a few years later.

At the age of 20, Lawrence enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He valued his service highly and earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal for his involvement in the Vietnam War.

Lawrence continued his education after serving in the Navy.  He received an Associate's degree from Henry Ford Community College, Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from Lawrence Tech and earned his Master of Business Administration from Central Michigan University.

Larry and Joyce celebrated 53 wonderful years of marriage in September.  They raised 4 wonderful children together and are blessed with grandchildren and great grandchildren.  During their marriage Lawrence worked at General Motors as a Transportation Manager.  He retired in 2001 and then began working at National Logistic Management as a consultant for 8 years.  In his spare time, Larry also coached basketball in the area.

Larry is a long-time parishioner at St. Alfred Catholic Church in Taylor, Michigan where he and his wife were members of choir for several years.  He was a man of great faith, and rarely missed Mass.  He was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus.

Larry had an old school mentality and when times changed, he always stuck to his morals and values.  He loved his Irish heritage and was a big Notre Dame fan.

Joyce was the love of his life, they were inseparable and his biggest passion was spending time with her.  They often had Friday night date nights at their favorite karaoke bars where Larry loved to perform his favorite karaoke songs – they would also alternate weekends with dinner and a movie.

He treated his friends like gold and would do anything to help his friends and family – his passion was very known.

He leaves behind his beloved wife Josephine "Joyce" Foley (Cefai); children: Kathryn, Kevin, Monica, and Diane (Matthew); grandchildren: Kristina (Travis) Cycotte, Kaelyn Kessler, Kyle Kessler, Teagan McCarthy, Maeve McCarthy, and Rowan McCarthy; great-grandchildren: Aleesia Cycotte and Logan Cycotte; and his sister, Janet (James) Hurley.  Larry is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew Norman Foley and Irene Marie Foley (Campbell); his siblings: Mary Ellen, Noreen, Gerard (Mary), Terrence, Mary Margaret, and Thomas (Sue); and his nephew, Robert Hurley.

He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Please leave your condolences or share a memory in the guestbook.
