Fr. Lawrence H. Kaiser, age 88, passed away on May 3rd, 2026. Lawrence was born on March 5, 1938, the son of Herman and Caroline Kaiser.
Fr. Larry attended Sacred Heart Seminary, Detroit; University of Detroit; and St. John’s Provincial Seminary, Plymouth Township. He was ordained June 6, 1964, at Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament, Detroit and celebrated his first Mass at St. Clement Parish, Dearborn.
Fr. Larry served as associate pastor at Our Lady of the Lakes Parish, Waterford Township from 1964-1969; St. Angela Parish, Roseville 1969-1971; and St. Mary Parish, Redford 1971-1973. He was co-pastor at St. Gerard Parish, Detroit from 1973-1980, then appointed pastor from 1980-1988. He was pastor of St. Albert the Great Parish, Dearborn Heights, from 1988-1999. He was pastor of Sacred Heart Parish, Dearborn, from 1999 until being granted senior status in 2008. He later served briefly as administrator of St. Edith Parish, Livonia in 2010. Fr. Kaiser was vicar of the Dearborn Vicariate from 1995-98, and served on the Presbyteral Council in 2007/2008. He received the Cardinal Mooney Award in 1982, for which he studied in Dublin, Ireland, for three months.
Lawrence leaves behind a sister, Diane Fisher, a nephew, Scott Fisher, two nieces, Robyn Fisher and Sherri Burke, four great nieces, Makena, Faith, Brooklyn, and Adeline, and a great nephew, Kenneth.
Family was always a top priority. Fr. Larry is an amazing uncle and great uncle and was always very active in his nieces, nephew, great nieces, and great nephew's lives. He participated in all of their Baptisms, First Communions, and Confirmations. He always made time for each of their major life events. As his nieces and nephews approached adulthood, he made sure he spent a day with each one of them for their birthdays. He was a very caring son, taking care of his mother after his father passed away. His family was always a priority, spending hours at family events doing what he loves-dancing with his nieces and nephew while his sister played the piano. He spent countless summers traveling to the family cottage and sailing. He also enjoyed winter events such as skiing and even taught his sister how to ski and took her out west with him.
