It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lawrence Stanley "Big Kal 'l "Kal-Man" Kalamajka, who departed this life on September 30, 2025 at the age of
81 . Lawrence was born on January 13, 1944 in Detroit to the late Stanley Joseph and Margaret Cecelia (Hunter) Kalamajka.
Kal attended Detroit Denby High School and not long after enlisted in the US Army serving in the 82nd Airborne Division, including deployments to the Dominican Republic and Vietnam. After returning to the States, he worked as a lineman with Michigan Bell (later AT&T) from which he retired. He stayed active in the veteran community as a long time member of the VFW, and the American Legion always representing his fellow Vietnam Veterans with pride and dignity.
Kal enjoyed spending his time fishing, hunting, any kind of inside sport; pool, darts, cards... and later in life, was an avid golfer. He was larger than life, had the biggest heart, and you always knew when he entered the room. He effortlessly made everyone laugh with his quick-wittedness. Kal also enjoyed cooking, painting, and singing., could fix or repair anything, & was afraid of nothing...a true Man's Man
He will truly be missed by all who loved him.
Kal is survived by his wife, Veronica
(Speck) Kalamajka, children, Jeffery
(Cindy) Kalamajka, Todd Kalamajka,
Douglas (Angie) Speck, and Kevin (Alina)
Kalamajka. Grandchildren, Christopher,
Jonathan, Elizabeth, Kyle, Justin, Briana, Amber, Tiffany, Heather, and Hannah, and great grandchildren, Scarlett, Ava, Karlee,
Lucas and Clara. He ls also survived by brother Joe Kalamajka, sisters Helen (Tony.)Pankowski and Carol (Steve) Perry.
He was preceded in death by son Daniel
Speck, brother Jim Kalamajka, sisters
Mary Ann Miller and Kathleen Russell.
I know he'll be waiting for me & all the doggies, listening to the old country songs we both loved, on that big happy porch in the wherever....his favorite place Love you Kal-man forever Roni
